The two approaches to portraiture in this collection use unconventional means to transform the face. One employs extended 4×5 exposures that dissolve the face into something between portrait and mask. The other captures unscripted conversations on video, which are re-photographed off the screen—scan lines and motion abstracting what the camera alone cannot catch. Both land in the space between likeness and abstraction.
