As Covid receded, I found myself reaching back toward something essential: the face-to-face encounter of portrait photography. I bought a Mamiya 6×7 and returned to film, reconnecting with people I’d known for years. What began as reconnection has since evolved into digital medium format and portraits of strangers — people I’ve only just met.
